About Aroma Thyme Aromatherapy

Aroma Thyme Aromatherapy is a woman-owned small business specializing in pure essential oils, aromatherapy blends, and curated wellness products. Founded by Deborah Harlan, Aroma Thyme Aromatherapy has been serving the aromatherapy community since 1995 and has been online since 1997, making it one of the earliest essential oil retailers on the web.

The store is located in Sonoma County, California, in the scenic wine country region known as the Valley of the Moon.

The Story Behind the Store

I was first introduced to essential oils during massage therapy school. I loved experimenting with recipes and noticed how relaxed my clients felt upon leaving. Taking courses with some of the leading pioneers in the field, I knew aromatherapy was going to be very important in my life.

I remember having to explain over and over what the word aromatherapy even meant. Hospitals began calling, wanting to know how they could use essential oils to calm patients. The world was just beginning to discover what I already knew.

A friend was learning to build websites, and so Aroma Thyme Aromatherapy was born online in 1997. My vision has always been to offer products of the highest quality, containing only pure essential oils, together with education. Think of it as shopping in a carefully curated aromatherapy boutique in the heart of California wine country.

Valley of the Moon Aromatherapy is our trademarked house brand, named for the beautiful Sonoma County region we call home. The Valley of the Moon line features single essential oils and synergy blends sourced from around the world, selected for their purity, potency, and origin. Every Valley of the Moon product reflects the same standard of quality and care that has guided Aroma Thyme Aromatherapy from the beginning.
